Drifters was typical of many North Cornwall properties of the late twentieth century.
Tucked away in a corner plot the reverse level house had been used as a holiday home and didn’t interact with its garden, truly a property of its time! Our client wanted to permanently relocate and use the house as their main home but felt that it had to be refreshed and extended to meet their needs as a family.
By maintaining a consistent but refreshed design theme the extensions enabled the creation of a new master bedroom suite, a home office and a garden room with adjoining terrace that not only creates interaction between the first floor living accommodation and the garden but also offers distant views over the Camel Estuary.
The essential issue of addressing how the first floor living accommodation links to the new ground floor entrance hall has been overcome by remodelling the staircase and creating a light and airy double height space.
