The Bungalow, Trevarrian, Cornwall

We were commissioned  to remodel and extend an existing dilapidated dwelling near the North Cornish coast into a modern, flexible and highly sustainable home suitable for a growing and extending family.

Careful design considerations were undertaken to ensure the Architectural style responded positively within the area and the landscape. Influence was sought from the immediate area and a material palette was designed to replicate the Cornish idiom in a contemporary method. Slate pod extensions have allowed a modern and flexible family area  to be created.

Along with the roof being insulated following a reroofing, the finished ground floor level was raised to allow the installation of insulation. The property was also externally insulated and re rendered in a contemporary manner which complemented the refreshing of the fenestration.

The finished design respects its location and the surrounding properties and demonstrates how an existing empty home can be brought back into use as a flexible family home, a potential blue print for future refurbishments and renovations.
